This historic solid stone property, built in the 1800s, required a sensitive approach to preserve its original character while delivering modern energy efficiency.
The Solfit team installed 200mm of EPS insulation, finished with an Acrylic Premium render. This system not only eliminated long-standing moisture issues in the solid stone walls but also transformed the home’s thermal performance.
The Soltherm External Wall Insulation system was a key factor in achieving the A-rated BER certification, bringing this heritage property up to the highest modern standards of energy efficiency.
Overview
Solfit was commissioned to retrofit a 19th century stone home in Killiney, Co. Dublin. The goal was to retain the original façade and detailing while eliminating damp issues caused by water ingress, and ultimately achieve an A-rated BER certification.
